Library Collection

The JIGYASA Knowledge and Resource Centre has a total collection of around 28000, which includes books, serials, non-book materials, etc. The library subscribes to 20 national and international journals, 20 magazines, and 10 newspapers. The library also has collections by way of donation.

The JIGYASA Knowledge and Resource Centre system: The library has an open access system.

  • The members have the privilege of direct access to the shelves in the stack areas and the freedom to browse among the books during specified hours.
  • While books can be freely taken off the shelves, on no account should they be reserved by the members because of the misplacement.

How are the Reading materials arranged in the The JIGYASA Knowledge and Resource Centre?

Books: Books in the library are arranged in a classified-order system. The classified arrangement of reading materials according to the 23rd edition of the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme with classification numbers is maintained on the shelves for the convenience of the members themselves.

After locating an item in the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), the screen will provide the call number for the item. The call number is the 'address', of the book on the shelf.

370.15 (assigned to the book for "Education Psychology")
540 (assigned to the book for "Chemistry"

Jigyasa E- Library:

Open Access Resources are freely available for viewing and/or use. They are different from resources in the public domain. They comprise scholarly digital literature accessible over the internet free of cost. Most Open Access creators retain their copyrights. OASIS: OASIS is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. The Manson OER Metafinder (MOM): It is a Real Time federated search for OER content across 22 resources. In conjunction with Deep Web Technologies, University Libraries has developed a search engine that simultaneously queries a number of open educational resource sites.
